Holiday :)

So I tried to write my blog last night but my computer crashed :(  wouldn't restart but fortunately after some R&R and sweet talking it sorted itself out for today, for which I am very grateful. However not a great start to the year for all you regular readers, so I do apologise for your lack of Sunday reading.

So this week we went on holiday :))) and had a lovely time. We went to Ballina which is about 2 1/2 hours drive south on the coast. We had a penthouse apartment
which had the most amazing 270 degree view from  the balcony - just awesome !
So we had a fairly leisurely week with lots of coffee / milkshake stops, food and ambling around shops.

We drove down on Monday morning, stopping at the border of NSW as although Ceri and Josh drove one car each, in NSW they are restricted to speeds of under 80km /hr, very slow, tedious and embarrassing on some of the single lane carraigeway, still it
made a good coffee stop :) We then stopped for lunch at Thursday Plantation, where they make the tea tree products(the green/ yellow packets in the UK)

and had a wander round. The chaps plus Rebecca had a fun time in the maze until they realised they were being bitten by lots of mozzies, so after a hasty escape and walking through trees which had cobwebs stretching across we made a hasty exit.

We settled into the apartment and generally started the relaxation part, that was after a trip to Woolies to stock up. We were 10 minutes walk from the beach which was gorgeous, sand and sea both very hot.
Tuesday Ceri & Matt went off on their own to explore Ballina, not quite realising how long a walk it was into the centre... still the exercise did them good :) The rest of us went in by car, so we spent the morning there and then went in the sea in the afternoon.

Wednesday was a repeat of the day before except Ceri & Matt came with us and we went to Lennox head.
Thursday Josh and Rebecca stayed in the apartment almost all day although they did venture to the pool for a bit and the rest of us went for a drive into the hinterland. All I can say is the scenery is great, but the guide books are great at exaggeration !! And the most historic buildings they could find were built in 1904, which did make us chuckle, and the towns were a bit run down or else not much there, but the car air con

was worth the drive :)

Friday we went to Byron Bay and did a repeat of tuesday... its a great town but full of backpackers and students.
So we went in the sea 2 afternoons and the pool 2 afternoons, although the sea was great and warm, the surf wasn't great as very broken waves, it was also very windy, so as soon as you came out the sea you were covered in sand, it also hurt having sand blown at you with such a force :(

However despite that the weather was beautiful, the beaches the stuff of picture postcards and the temperatures were up as high as 38 degrees.
We ate out at some lovely restaurants as well as BBQ ing and getting take away.

So Saturday we came home, stopping at Coolangatta which we hadn't been too and was conveniently on the border to swap drivers. I suddenly realised I had no group photo...hence the resigned look of 'here she goes again' from Mark and Josh.. miserable lot!!! However we spent a lovely few hours wandering around.
So overall we had a great time, lots of relaxing and some good tan acquired despite our friend factor 30!

So then it was back to normal... we got home, Ceri and Matt went straight out and Josh went out to a pool party and I got left with the washing :(
At least by the time one loads finished in the washer the other load on the line is already dry so it makes it quick to do. However it was nice to come back to our own house, with no boxes, air con that's thankfully very effective, solar that was finally connected and making lots of nice electricity for us and feel settled.

So Sunday was back to normal, intertwined with another trip to Woolies to stock up, lots of ironing and Josh was back to work, although he's counting the shifts down till he finishes in 2 weeks. He's giving up due to too much school work, extra curricular activities, prefect duties and musical rehearsals and wants to get a good OP result at the end of the year.
Anyway it was back to work for me today but more of that next week....
