well it's been quite a hectic week in a variety of ways but at the same time some very relaxing and pleasurable periods.
Monday we didn't do very much as the weather wasn't great. So we just went up to the village, did a bit of shopping and went out for coffee. We still had Ken and Anne with us as their flight back wasn't until the afternoon so after a leisurely lunch we sent them on their way. So in the afternoon Jan and I went shopping to one of the more local malls.
Tuesday we had a bank holiday thanks to the Queen's Birthday and we took Jan and Jim down to Surfer's paradise on the Gold Coast where they were spending a couple of days with one of Jan's other brothers, Colin and his wife Jenny. Having dropped them at their hotel Mark and I went on to spend a very long day at Metricon!! So having decided wall colours, skirting boards, bricks, roof, kitchens etc our house is now designed... well at least until we get the paperwork saying how much all the extras are going to cost!!! My highlight is having a purple kitchen... well aubergine, really, with a snazzy stripey server surround around the sink and then a 'latte' coloured glass splash back which picks out one of the colours in the stripey bit. Skirting and walls all white. Bricks are silver, and roof very pale grey and fascias and garage door 'ocean blue'... of course trying to imaging all that isn't going to give you much idea... so you'll just have to wait, as will I, till it's built, which seems to be taking forever, although they tell us its all on schedule!!! Anyway after 4 1/2 hours of decisions we were exhausted.. it's hard work making all them decisions at once.
Wednesday it was back to work for me, which is still going well. Mark was sending off more job applications and Josh had more exams, which he thinks went ok. Thursday Jan and Jim came back with Colin and Jenny and an evening of good company and Chinese take-a-way was had by all.
Friday bought some good news for Mark in that he finally has another job interview next week. Its for a Design technology technician in Forest Lake state high school, so 5 minutes up the road, full term, but he thinks term time only. He's now hoping that it might be a way back into teaching... at least he would be in the right place to find out about jobs, also it will be a good test whether he is able to use the tools and machines again. So prayers would be appreciated, the interview is on wednesday at 8.20am. However the down side is that we are going away to Airlie Beach tomorrow to see the Great Barrier Reef and he's not coming, so we're really praying he gets the job and its worth him missing the holiday :(
So over the w/e Rebecca was in the school hockey finals in which they did really well and would of won if it wasn't for a biased ref :( Jan and I went shopping ....again, (and took Josh and his mate) to a much larger mall. we didn't buy much... Josh made up for our lack of spending though! In the afternoon, we went driving round other areas of Brisbane just to have a nosy at other areas and of course, stopped for coffee. we had a quiet evening in although Josh went out to a youth group movie night. Today we did church and have spent the afternoon sorting out and packing ready for tomorrow. Also had a lovely chat with my Dad for Fathers day, although it's not here until September, so a tad confusing.
So tomorrow is an early start to get to the airport for our flight, am really looking forward to it, just sad Mark can't come, although Ceri was quite pleased, cruel girl, as she was glad she wasn't the only one missing out. However the airline have only given us a credit on his flight.. so we'll just have to go again and take them :))
watch out for next weeks instalment and photos!
